hauthaus installation day

October 14, 2010

Installation days are fun days for us gals at hauthaus.

They are the days when we get to see our creative ideas and drawings come to life in our clients’ homes.  And best of all, the client can see things coming together… it’s smiles all around!  And we like that!

In this empty nesters’ Music Room, we chose to do a decorative, shaped cornice board in an embroidered silk fabric.  The colors and detail in this silk were amazing and really went with all of the other colors in the home.  To accent the floral and add just a bit of ‘edge’, we added a layer of black striped fabric, swagged behind it.

(Also, we made sure to order enough fabric to recover an existing chair too. Doesn’t it look fab?!) 🙂

Our sewing wizard, Dawn, made sure that every window was measured twice and every detail was thought out since our plan was to mount the cornice boards on the tiny bit of wall space between the trim on the windows and the new crown moulding.  There was no room for error, and at the end of the day, the installation went on without a hitch!

She is a master with her needle and thread! And she did such a beautiful job creating these treatments.

The end result was a beautiful music room with cranberry red walls, a gold metallic painted ceiling, and plenty of softness with the new window treatments to muffle the sounds of the piano from the rest of the house.

Cheers!
