hauthaus: out and about

November 18, 2010

This week we popped in to Hunt & Gather on 50th and Xerxes in Edina to see what fun, new things we could find…

Holly spotted some lovely cat eye glasses and a vintage leopard print hat and just had to model them!  What fun!
I found these classic tin thermos lunch boxes. (One of them even had a shoulder harness!)  Oh, how they made me long for warmer weather and picnics in the park!

Antique door plates, galore!

While Holly and I were out and about scouting for some vintage accent pieces for a cabin project, we decided to take some photos of our fun findings to share with you!

You can be sure when you head to Architectural Antiques in Northeast Minneapolis that you’ll find interesting and unique pieces.

We found TONS of antique door plates, door knobs, and vintage hardware , they have every size and shape imaginable!

Baskets and baskets of door knobs!

The staff knows a lot, so don’t be afraid to ask questions, and tell them hauthaus sent you! And as always, if you need an extra set of eyes, don’t hesitate to call us and set up a shopping date!
cheers!

fall dinner parties

September 9, 2010

Fall is in the air, but that doesn’t mean the summer fun has to stop quite yet! I’m sure there are a few more sunny days that would be perfect for a ladies’ brunch, a backyard picnic, or a late night dinner party with friends!

Here we highlight our ‘hauthaus table tops’ that we debuted on Kare11 earlier this summer…

Perfect for a ladies' brunch!

We have our ‘Ladies’ brunch table top’ in the stylish color combo, white, grey and yellow.  Wouldn’t it be fun to sit down at this beautful table to sip tea and eat scones?

Late night dinner party

After the autumn sun has set, turn up the jazz music and have a late night dinner party with friends. This table top setting is perfect for Spanish tapas…

  • Tablecloth fabric: KDR Showrooms
  • Teal charger, small black bowl, pitcher, glasses, antique wooden bowl: Spinario Design
  • Blue plate, napkin holder, napkin: Crate & Barrel
  • Purple plate, black square plate, silverware: Ikea

When putting together a tabletop setting it’s important to remember to use antique or vintage items you might have in storage. Your Grandma’s antique silver vase might be just the thing your setting needs!  Don’t be afraid to use quirky items to add character! Go ahead, stack up your plates, use herbs as decoration, mix colors and styles!

It looks like this weekend’s weather is going beautiful! So please, go ahead; invite the neighbors, family, and friends and have a fun gathering of your own!

vintage find!

August 17, 2010

While out at one of our favorite vintage stores in Minneapolis, we came across these ‘too-cute-to-pass-up’ pages from a old childrens’ book. (lucky us!)

Wouldn’t these look great framed in a nursery, kids’ bedroom, or kids’ playroom?!

There are about 20 of them all together and each one features a different flower, poem, and illustration.

What fun!
