Food trucks!

June 7, 2011

It’s food truck season!  Last week for lunch we visited the Food Truck Court in St. Paul at Kellogg and Wabasha. It is a summer MUST!

We got in line at our pals Kari and Amy’s Fork in the Road food truck and tried to figure out what to eat… with so many yummy things on the menu, it was hard to pick!

They offer delicious lunch options such as Roasted Red Pepper & Mozzarella Rolls, Molten Meatball Sliders, Shrimp & Orzo Pasta Salad, and their famous BBQ Pulled Pork Grilled Cheese with Carmelized Onions. Yum! We both decided to have the grilled cheese. It was beyond delish!  Talk about melt-in-your-mouth grilled cheese and pulled pork- having one of those sandwiches is also a summer must!

You’ll be able to spot Fork in the Road a mile away with their happy bright, orange truck. Be sure to order their special Strawberry Lemonade too… it tastes especially good on these hot summer days. They scoot around from location to location throughout the year, so to be sure you know where they are (and where you can find the best lunch in town) ‘friend’ them on Facebook or follow them on Twitter since they post their whereabouts daily.

The food truck court is held every Wednesday from 11:30 – 1pm at the same location every week. Each week you can (and should) try a different food truck; as all of their menus change daily.

What a great way to spend your lunch hour… outside and enjoying amazing food! Try it next week!

Also.. a fun sidenote…Fork in the Road will be at Music in Mears Park 2011!   Thursdays from 6-9pm June 9th to August 25th in Mears Park, enjoy music, good food, and time with family and friends. out and about: swank

December 17, 2010

One of the previous stops on the hauthaus train was Swank on University Avenue in St. Paul.

Have you been there? If you haven’t, it’s a must!  We love to pop in when we are out and about in the area.  Swank has lots of fun vintage furniture, clothes, lighting, kitchen goodies, and accessories; and their inventory is always changing. Who knows what you’ll find!

Swank can be found in the St. Paul Retro Loop; for directions and 5 other mid-century modern stores: http://www.stpaulretroloop.com/map.html
If you go, we’d love to hear what you found!

What a fun find! These plates are the same ones that Amber's Grandma has!

What a darling little yellow table! Wouldn't it make a cute kids craft table?

Wow! Look at these stunning mid-century modern lights!
