One of our fabulous clients in Uptown in Minneapolis is anxiously awaiting her master bedroom window treatments. They will finish off her 3rd floor master nicely by adding color, texture, and by blocking the light on bright mornings.

Dawn, the talent behind Creative Coverings (our go-to workroom), sent us pictures as she’s constructing the panels this week…

It all starts with a fabric, an idea and a drawing...

Here, you can see how Dawn is prepping the lining by ironing it down and pinning it before she sews. This will then be attached to the panel fabric.

Next, she lays out the Romo fabric and begins to work on the hems.

These will end up to be three sets of fully functioning panels with pleats at the top. They’ll go behind the bed, in the seating nook, and on the stair wall.

Look for photos of the installation and of the finished panels hung in place in the next few posts!

april showers…

April 26, 2011

rainy day products

The saying goes: “April Shower Bring May Flowers”. Well, so far it seems like April showers bring MORE April showers!

I think rainy days are good for staying in and catching up with your latest book while sipping hot tea or popping in a movie or two and enjoying some cuddle time on the sofa. What are your favorite rainy day activities?

Here are some ‘rainy day products’ to get you through the next couple of rainy days. Then hopefully we will see some May flowers next week!

(Top left to bottom right:  Swarovski Crystal raindrop chandelier; Chrysanthemum umbrella from Bibelot Shops, Sassy plaid rain boots from Target; Weather shower curtain from CB2; Smart rain slicker from Anthropologie; Copper rain chain from Patina Stores, Retro raindrop wallpaper and fabric pattern from Romo.)

And now… for the rest of the story…

To conclude our wrap up of blogs from the past year, we’ve noted a few entries from the last part of 2010.

In July, we posted the  ‘after photos’ from the 2010 ASID Showcase Home  where we designed the Front Porch on the Lake of the Isles home. https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/07/06/showcase-home-porchafters/

In August, we highlighted three of the main color trends for fall: Magenta and Chocolate, Yellow, Grey and White, and eggplant. See the fresh combo of yellow, grey and white here: https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/08/03/color-trends-yellow-grey-and-white/

In September, we showcased three themes for table top decor ideas for hosting fall dinner parties. These themes can translate easily to parties throughout the year. https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/09/09/fall-dinner-parties/

In October, we posted a few pictures from a custom window installation. We used the same fabric on the cornice board and to upholster a wing chair in this lovely music room. https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/10/14/hauthaus-installation-day/

In November, we showed you how to make a feather wreath with Holly. Did you make one? If so, we’d love to see pictures! 🙂 https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/11/22/make-a-holiday-feather-wreath-with-holly/

In December, we showed you how to create a fabulous holiday table using things you might find in your kitchen cabinets and your front yard! https://hautblog.wordpress.com/2010/12/09/holiday-table-decor-with-hauthaus/
