When it comes down to all of the nitty-gritty details in your home during a remodel or if your building new, it’s great to have a qualified interior designer in your back pocket to study and go over all of these details both large and small.

For example… did you know that when installing a fireplace there are lots of dimensions, tolerances, and rules of what can go where?

One reason to hire an interior designer: there are LOTS of details that go into a home project!

This is just ONE page  from ONE of our graphic standards and interior codes books that has 550+ pages in it!

Now that’s a lot of details to go over!!!

We were recently out at a site visit to one of our remodeling projects in Mendota Heights. They have made it past the demo phase and are framing out the new rooms and spaces. Check out the progress!

From top to bottom:

  • BEFORE: This picture shows the existing home, a farmhouse built in the early 1900s. In the living room, you can see the fireplace and the ceiling was in need a repair.
  • DEMO: This was taken from the same spot as the top picture. The fireplace mantle is gone, as is the ceiling and walls – we are saving the amazing wood floor. It has peg and bow tie details in it! You can see the walls have been opened up to the new dining room beyond the living room.
  • DEMO: This long shot is down the back hallway leading from back hall to the kitchen. The back door leads out to the back yard, pond, and pool.
  • DEMO: This view is from the kitchen looking into the dining room. The dining room will have windows and doors on 3 sides with beautiful views out to the patios, pond and pool.
  • DEMO: Here is a sneak peek through the existing foundation to where the new hallway to the lower level sport court will be. This is sure to be a room that gets lots of use during the long MN winters!

Stay tuned during the coming months as we finish completion!!! We’ll post pictures of our progress.

What do your walls say about you?

It’s the perfect time of year to get your home projects started (and finished!). If you’re yearning for a new color in your living room, kitchen, or bathroom, but haven’t found the right inspiration, look no further! Here are three fresh color schemes for your new space…

This bathroom starts with a pop of blue paint on the walls and is accented with white and grey marble. Black towels and deep turquoise act as accents.

This neutral color scheme is made fresh with pops of barn red, bright blue, and mustard yellow.

This Ruby bathroom features a black and white marble tile floor with a deep warm wood vanity and chrome fittings.
