rainy day fun: see art!

June 17, 2011

Did you know that the Northrup King building is open to the public on Saturdays? Well it is!!

What a perfect activity for a rainy day! (which is what the weatherman is predicting…)

Here’s the scoop:

What: Lots of artists open their studios for a day so you can pop in, chat, purchase art, or just see what a ‘day in the life of an artist’ is like!

Cost: Free

Times: Noon to 4pm

Location: Northrup King Arts Building at 1500 Jackson Street NE, Minneapolis

Who’s studios/ stores are open: Click HERE

(hauthaus INsider tip: While you’re over there, drop over to Architectural Antiques – they have lots of goodies to see and buy!)

One of our hauthaus favorites, Aaron Brand, is having a show at Moto-i in Uptown this Wednesday night!

He is a multifaceted artist that loves working with found objects and creating unique pieces of art from them.  He has a talented eye for using objects such as plastic hangers, driftwood, metal chain, even plastic toy cowboys and indians and turning them into something spectacular.

We have commissioned a couple of Aaron’s pieces for our clients and they have always been thrilled with the result.

If you haven’t seen his art before, you are missing out! You must go!  To see some of his past commissions and his custom lighting, visit his website at: http://www.aaronbranddesign.com/

The show runs from 7pm – midnight. (if you’re up for a late night, happy hour starts at 10!)

See you there!

It’s the first Thursday in June, and you know what that means! The artists in the Northrup King building are opening their studio doors and welcoming you in to chat with them and to see their newest works.

The building houses over 200 artists of all mediums, including photographers, painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and more!

The studios are open from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.   DON’T forget to stop by the green space off of 15th Street and Jackson for a rootbeer float tonight!

What could be a better way to spend a summer weeknight… fabulous local art and a cold, creamy rootbeer float?

The Northrup King building is located at 1500 Jackson Street NE, Minneapolis. For more info on parking and directions go to http://www.northrupkingbuilding.com/contact.
