Holly and I love to stay inspired and know what’s going on in the design world.

Whether it’s learning about the newest happenings in green design, an interior design/art-related event that’s happening locally or the latest and greatest fabric collections at International Market Square, you can bet that we’ll be there. This helps up be knowledgeable for our fantastic clients and helps us to be the best designers we can be!

This morning we visited Kravet/ Lee Jofa showrooms at IMS for a trunk show preview of their newest fabrics and styles. We’d love to share a snippet with you what we saw…

What exciting news! The Lee Jofa fabric showroom is bringing Lilly Pulitzer’s colorful and lively fashion style to their showroom and to your home!

Watch this video for a mini history of Lilly Pulitzer and a preview of the wonderful colors and patterns that they are introducing:

So, what did you think? Did you see a fabric that you’d love to use in your home (or new dress)? We’d love to hear your thoughts!

Before & After: sunroom

June 14, 2011

What a difference window treatments make!

Before: window treatments in the sunroom

This poolside sunroom needed a little help when it came to window treatments. We found a fabulous Kravet fabric that tied all of the colors in the room together. Our very talented workroom made our sketch a reality…

After: window treatments in sunroom

The homeowners, who live on Lake Harriet in Minneapolis, were thrilled when the treatments went up! It really softened the windows and gave a finished look to the much used room.

a new yellow bench

October 28, 2010

the bench: before.

It’s always a happy story when you can find a tired, old piece of furniture at a vintage shop and give it new life.

That’s just what we did for an antique bench we found and the now closed “Feather Your Nest” shop in Wayzata. It had great bones and character, but the fabric was in need of a re-do and the trim was falling off. But, the style was just perfect for one of our clients; so we grabbed it!

We found the perfect, mustard colored Kravet faux leather to upholster it with, along with a sassy little ribbon trim. We brought the bench to our very talented upholsterer and it was done within days!

The results are really quite grand. It adds such a great pop of color and interest in its new home.

Re-upholstering and re-using is a great way to be green and to give an old piece a new look. It’s amazing what a new coat of paint or updated fabric can do!

mad about orange!

September 7, 2010

This morning I woke up and everything was grey. How drab… Here’s a fun shot of color.  Please enjoy my spotlight on one of Holly’s favorite colors and all the fun it has to offer!

Did you know…

* Orange is said to stimulate activity and your appetite

* It also promotes socialization; which might be why Native Americans associate it with kinship

* The great artist, Kandinsky, once said, “Orange is red brought nearer to humanity by yellow”

* The color orange was extremely important in the Elizabethan Era. English Law even dictated who could and who could not wear this color of status!

* Watch Ken Nordine’s smooth and cheeky poem ‘orange’ come to life on youtube:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JH8Ir1djOAs&feature=related

In this collage, I have found some fun orange items for your house!

  • The sofa/ bunk bed is from MobileForm. How cool is this?! 🙂
  • The fun console table is from Somerset Bay
  • The  floral fabric can be found at Kravet
  • The pendant light is sourced from Currey & Company
  •  The plates and mugs with orange spoons are from CB2

cheers!
