color cure
August 2, 2011
ROYGBIV. You might have learned that in school when studying color: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.
Here’s our hauthaus take on the color wheel with our projects plugged in as references…
Red: Master bedroom and bathroom remodel in South Minneapolis. Chrome, white marble, and espresso cabinets set the scene in this dramatic bathroom.
Orange: “Away Room” remodel in a home in Chanhassen. It’s the perfect spot to read the news paper, have some coffee or just get away…
Yellow: Showcase Home Kitchen in 2003 with Bonnie Birnbaum; located in St. Paul. Since the clients entertain a lot, a large gathering space was incorporated into the kitchen design. The complimentary color blue makes the yellow really pop.
Green: Master bedroom and bathroom remodel in Minnetonka. We used a warm green on the walls along with other hues of green throughout the master suite. A silky lemongrass custom duvet compliments the striped cream and green draperies. The black painted furniture accents the fresh green nicely.
Blue: Home furnishings project in Plymouth. The cool blue walls set the tone of the home and evoke a sense of the east coast and water.
Violet: Dining room remodel in Chanhassen. This smoky grey-purple makes the space seem warm and inviting.
Since it’s been a little grey and rainy lately in Minnesota, we thought it might be nice to add a little bit of a color cure to your day! We hope you enjoyed it!
What’s your favorite way to add color into your interior (and exterior) spaces?
cheers! 🙂

zen color scheme
July 22, 2011
-
The soft, muted greens and blues create a calming effect.
-
River stones, incorporated into the floor design, are reminiscent of a zen rock garden. They evoke tranquility.
-
The curved back of the chair softens the straight lines of the tile and wood tub surround. Balance is key.
