special dining storage

Take a peek at a dining room we worked on…

We were inspired by the clients’ former home on Lake of the Isles. It has tons of character with the wide baseboards, door toppers, lots of built-ins and other pretty architectural details.¬† We wanted to bring some of that into the dining room at their new home, so we designed and drew¬† an elevation of a built-in that has wide drawers on the bottom, a mirror to reflect light, glass shelves for wine glasses and glass doors for displaying silver or colorful bowls.

The design of the cabinet changed a little from the time we drew it from when it actually was built by the cabinet maker. We ended up adding a door topper onto the built-in so it related to the main door into the dining room. Since we did that, the glass doors got shortened and we decided to eliminate the leaded glass detail and put seeded glass in instead. The end result is a pretty space for all of the clients’ dining storage needs!
