Cabin custom bench and cabinetry: AFTER
July 15, 2011
A couple of blog entries ago, we shared a sketch for custom Kravet bench upholstery and pillow fabrics… here is the follow-up “After” picture with a snap of what the space looked like before we started any work.
In this project on Clearwater Lake, we designed custom cabinetry with a dark espresso stain to contrast with the cedar plank walls that are in the rest of the cabin. Once we took the brick out (seen in the before image), we carried that planking through the kitchen to create a cohesive look.
The tile was handmade for our project and sourced at Rubble Tile. We selected pretty tones of blues, greens, and dark blue/ almost black.
In the ‘Before’ picture (below) you can see that we took out the two windows on the side and added one in the middle. (Where the fireplace was, the bench is now in the ‘after’.) By taking out the corner window, we were able to get in a concierge station for the phone, phone books, TV, and kids craft supplies.
