color scheme: muted prairie

June 9, 2011

Happy Thursday, everyone!

In this blog we’ll highlight one of our powder rooms… enjoy!

Inspired by our “Asiatic Prairie” design concept, this powder room showcases a very pretty Muted Prairie color scheme. The colors are all very earthy and warm which creates a very inviting and homey feel; which is great for a powder room since this is the bathroom guests will most often use.

The inspiration color chips are all Benjamin Moore:

  • 2163-50 Burlap
  • 2164-40 Serengeti Sand
  • 2170-40 Coral Spice
  • HC-119 Sherwood Green
  • HC-105 Rockport Gray

Tips on the design of this bathroom:

  • Using a framed mirror vs. a large frameless mirror provides the opportunity for a little personality and gives the powder room a more custom feel.
  • The granite we used on the counter has a lot of pattern and a lot of movement. A powder room is a perfect spot to use something a little more bold like granite, paint or wallpaper.
  • Our vanity cabinet was built to look and feel like a piece of furniture, rather than a full built in cabinet.
  • When you do have guests over, gather a bunch of fresh flowers in a fun vase, this will make the guests feel invited and special.
