things to get out and do this season

December 1, 2010

‘Tis the season to spend some quality time with family!  Here are some family-friendly suggestions of places to see and do on the weekends and while the kids are off for holiday break!

Venture Downtown Minneapolis and visit the 8th floor Display at Macy’s! Old and young alike will enjoy seeing “A Day in the Life of an Elf”. It’s open now until Dec. 30th. It’s fun and FREE!  For hours: http://www.macys.com/store/event/index.ognc?action=search&storeId=902

Grab your family (and your blanket!) and head to the Nicollet Mall to watch the Hollidazzle Parade. A holiday tradition since 1992, the parade is a fun place to see Santa, the elves, and many other lighted holiday floats every Thursday – Sunday at 6:30 for FREE. A great place, and a favorite of Holly’s and her kids, is Clifton E. French Park in Plymouth. They have all of the outdoor winter fun activities! Snowshoeing, sledding, cross country skiing… you name it! They even have midnight trails! For more maps and rental information: http://www.threeriversparks.org/parks/french-park.aspx
